The whole planning phase of the big day is all-consuming, there are plenty of things buzzing around your head, and you will have big concerns and little concerns, but it’s mainly the small things are looming large in your mind. It’s human nature to panic about some minor detail while ignoring the bigger picture, and something like a wedding day is where you feel that every single detail needs to go right, from the type of table settings at the wedding reception to the drape over the toilet door! And while these are little touches that can add a minor sparkle to the day, it’s the big things you need to remember…

Not Worrying About Pleasing Everyone Else…

Really, don’t care about what other people think. This is a massive thing that people wrack their brains to make sure that Aunt Mable who nobody’s seen for twenty-three years is going to be happy with the side salad when it really doesn’t matter that much what they think. If people are having a good time, then that’s all you should aim for. People can work so hard to get the balance right for their guests, and therefore end up neglecting the big day in so many other ways, the ways that count. Yes, feelings may get hurt during the process, but remember, it’s not their wedding!

Making Sure That The Ring Fits…

Whether it’s too big or too small, it’ll be what everyone looks at during the key part of the ceremony, and if there’s a minor detail that’s wrong, it can be a big issue for you. This is why you need to check that it fits on a regular basis in the lead-up to the wedding. If it doesn’t fit, get it resized. Is it clean? If not, clean it. How does it measure up to your engagement ring? If that is dirty, it’ll ruin the appearance of the wedding ring. And is the ring perfect? I mean, really perfect. If not, you can add to it by approaching wholesale diamonds retailers and getting an extra diamond put on in the right place, because you need to make it just so. You can purchase loose diamonds if you’ve found one that is just perfect for the ring, and only you will know when it’s just right because if there’s an inkling of doubt, it’ll stick in the back of your mind.

Not Focusing On The Budget…

It’s been said before, and it’ll be said again, you don’t need a massive budget to make an amazing wedding day. You need to make the day the best experience for you and your partner. It doesn’t matter how much or how little money you have if you focus on the experience it’ll be great regardless. You’ve been to parties where you’ve had the best time despite limitations, and it’s exactly the same thing here, so don’t feel you have to get married in a castle. You’re better off making the most of certain limitations, and there will always be some, which leads to the next point.

Making Decisions…

So many brides and grooms are happy to “go with the flow” so much that they’ve barely decided on anything. The fact of the matter is, being indecisive is just as bad as being overly controlling. If you haven’t got a clue, how is the venue meant to know what you want? Figure out the important stuff before whittling down to the minor details, which you will get asked about! Even the bridesmaids will ask you how they should have their hair, and if you haven’t got an answer and then you realize on the day that it’s not to your taste, it’s too late!

Getting Organized…

While it’s not a detail in the obvious sense, the point of getting organized properly means that you’re getting into the right mindset for preparing. Be sure to make a checklist of things to do because when you’re in a rush to get so many things done, organization will save you! You can’t possibly keep every fine detail in your mind, so make lots of lists, and be focused down to the last minute. Lists will keep you in check, so get into the habit!

Make It About You…

Finally, a big thing to remember is that you’re catering to your tastes, not everyone else’s. So if there’s a part of the ceremony that is tradition but it’s not something you’d normally do, do you actually need it? A wedding is a celebration of you and your partner equally, and you have to place that above everything else.
