When you are planning your wedding a checklist will help keep you on track. Before you jump into wedding planning, there are four things you need to do before you select your wedding dress, venue or photographer. Here are four things that need to be at the top of your checklist.
1. Guest List – Draft a preliminary guest list. This is good so that you have an idea of how many people you will invite to your wedding. When you research and visit venues for your big day, they will want ask how many people you expect. This helps the venue determine if your wedding can fit into their space and allows them to provide you with appropriate cost.
2. Determine Budget – You need to have an idea of how much you want to spend on specific items, before you call or email vendors. If you want to spend $2,000 on a wedding dress, there is no need to visit a bridal boutique that have dresses at $4,000. A budget will help you narrow your choices for vendors and keep you focused.
3. Determine Wedding Style – You need to know this before you select a venue. If you are going with a rustic wedding, a farm might be a good choice. If you want an elegant and upscale wedding, you may contact a country club for the nuptials. You should also think about the time of day for your wedding along with season and overall feel you want your guest to have.
4. Set a Date – When you contact venues or vendors, they need to know the date of your wedding so they can determine if they are available for your wedding. If you have flexibility with your date, let them know that.
Once you have completed these pre-wedding planning items, you are ready to start the wedding planning process. Have fun!
